Biography

Country Music Artist, Josh Thompson, based out of Arlington, Texas, has been performing for just a short time. However, he has already received wide recognition for his talent. Josh Thompson sings a wide variety of styles, but specializes in Country music. His large vocal range and smooth vocals have a likeness to Collin Raye and Vince Gill, who are among his musical influences.

Josh Thompson was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After moving to upstate New York and Alabama, Josh and his family settled in Arlington, Texas. It was not until after moving to Texas that he really formed a desire to sing. While growing up, Josh Thompson participated in choir and musical groups at school. In high school, he participated in theatre as well as choir. After moving to Texas, he saw the large influence of music in the Texas culture, and the desire to begin a solo career began to grow.. He started going to a Karaoke show hosted by Nikki McKibbin (who later went on to appear on the hit reality show, American Idol), and it was there where he began to practice getting up in front of people. He eventually opened his own karaoke business and began to perform weekly at a local pizza restaurant. After some encouragement, he then joined the Lone Star Music Association and began to participate in their weekly open mic nights at Billy Bob's Texas. It was at Billy Bob's where Josh Thompson attracted the attention of Mi Mo Jo Productions, a newly formed independent record label. They began to feature him on their showcases and shows. Recently, Josh Thompson joined the Fort Worth Songwriter's Association, where he hopes to network with songwriters from across the country and put together a quality album of original songs.

Josh Thompson has only been performing for a short time, but he has gained much exposure. He has traveled around the country performing for many different audiences. After September 11, 2001, Josh Thompson was invited to travel to New York City with a former manager of Leann Rimes. He was able to meet and perform for many of the firefighters who were involved with that terrible event. He has also been nominated and has won various awards for his talent. In 2001, he won the Teen Achievement Award for the Frances Walsh Showcase of Stars, and the Rising Star Award for the Lone Star Music Association. In 2001 and 2002, he was nominated for Teen Opry Vocalist of Tomorrow (12-18) for the Coast to Coast Country Music Awards. He was also featured on the cover of the Coast to Coast Country Magazine in October of 2002. More recently, Josh Thompson won 2003 Teen Male Entertainer of the Year for the Frances Walsh Showcase of Stars.

Special Performances: Wedding for DeDee Crawford Towe, World Champion Female Bull Rider, World Champion Female Bronc Rider, and took the WPRA All Around Title for 2001 (Tyler, TX)

Album Project(s): Josh Thompson has recorded several demo albums and is now working on a complete album of original songs. His most recent demo CD is receiving airplay on radio stations in New Zealand.

Musical Style/Genre: Traditional Country, New Country, with a mix of oldies and pop.. Josh Thompsons large vocal range and smooth vocals resemble the likeness of such artists as Collin Ray and Vince Gill.
